SEWERAGE
Quilpie has been completely sewered since 1938 and was in fact one of the first towns in the Commonwealth to be provided with the necessary service. During the year ended 30th June, 1966 the pumping capacity was augmented and improvements were effected to the treatment plant at a cost
of $8778. Further upgrades are currently being carried out.

SPORTS
The sporting and recreational needs of the community are well met by various clubs. Racing, Polocrosse, Pony Club, Bowels, Golf, Rugby League, Touch Football, Tennis, Netball, Basketball, Cricket, Swimming and Aerobics.

John Waugh Park
The recreation reserve consists an area of just over 4.127 hectares. The Park was named John Waugh Park to perpetuate the name of the Chairman, Cr J D N Waugh, MBE and has been highly developed over the past few years. It now offers a football oval considered by many to be the best in the South West of the State. The park also has a cricket pitch. Two tennis courts and a bitumen netball/ basketball court are floodlit. The oval has over the last few years had the floodlights on the football field upgraded. In 1991 new kiosk and bar facilities were erected and a brick BBQ installed. In 2006 a Walk- Ride-Skate track was installed in Bi Centennial Park with further equipment is currently being added. The Memorial Gates at the entrance to the Park are dedicated to Peter Nicholson. Peter died in hospital after a serious injury playing football for Quilpie at the Park.

Bulloo Park
Bulloo Park caters for mainly horse sports. Polocrosse, Pony Club, Rodeos and Gymkhanas as well as the racetrack are within Bulloo Park. The annual Quilpie & District Show plus many other events and private functions are held in this facility.

Memorial Swimming Pool
A 33.3m pool and a toddler pool are open to the public free of charge. The Quilpie Pool hours for the 2009/2010 season are as follows:

The pool has recently undergone a major upgrade with a non slip surface being installed around the pool edge and the painting of both pools. Eromanga has a pool located within the school grounds.

TOWN PLANNING
The Quilpie Shire Plan is open for inspection or can be purchased at the Quilpie Shire Council Office, during office hours. Any person considering Land Use application should discuss their proposals with Council. Council officers will endeavour to assist, where possible, with the preparation of applications.

WATER  SUPPLY
The Quilpie Shire relies heavily on groundwater from the Great Artesian Basin (otherwise known as bore water). Water is reticulated to all premises in the town from the bore. The bore was sunk in 1933 to a depth of 899.8 metres. The water temperature is about 53.4 degrees Celsius at the Bore head. Cooling tanks are necessary at all premises to allow for the supply of both hot and cool water. While the sodium carbonate content of the water is reasonably high, it is excellent for ablution purposes and provided it is sprayed through the air is very satisfactory for garden purposes. Generally rain water is used for drinking purposes but some households use nothing but bore water.
